Privacy Policy
This policy explains what Play Indie First does with the details you send through the wishlist and newsletter form on playindiefirst.com, and what you can ask us to do with them afterwards.
Who handles your details
Play Indie First operates this site and is responsible for the personal information collected through it.
- Level 13, 102 Collins Street, Melbourne VIC 3000, Australia
- [email protected]
- +61 3 9555 0512
What we collect
Only what the form asks for. Nothing on this site collects personal information in the background.
- Name — so we can address the reply.
- Email address — where the newsletter and the wishlist reminder are sent.
- Preferred platform (optional) — so build notes match the store and system you play on.
- Additional message (optional) — anything you choose to tell us.
Our hosting provider also keeps ordinary server logs, which record technical details such as IP address, request time and browser version for the purpose of running and securing the site.
Why we use it
- To add you to the newsletter and send build notes about the game.
- To send the wishlist reminder when a new Early Access build is published.
- To answer the message you sent us and keep that correspondence.
- To keep the site running, secure and free of abuse.
We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). We rely on your request and consent for the newsletter and the reminder, and on our legitimate interest in running the site for the technical records above. You can withdraw consent at any time, and every email we send includes a way to stop receiving them.
Who else sees it
We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for anyone else's marketing. Your details may be processed by the service categories we rely on to operate: our web hosting provider and the mail transport used to deliver and receive messages. They act on our instructions and only to deliver the service.
How long we keep it
Subscription details are kept while you remain on the list and for twelve months after you unsubscribe or after the last contact, so we can show why the messages were sent. Correspondence is kept for twenty-four months. Server logs are kept for the short period the hosting provider retains them for operational and security purposes. After those periods the records are deleted.
Keeping it safe
Access to subscription details is limited to the people in the studio who need it, the site is served over an encrypted connection, and accounts used to administer it are protected by individual credentials.
Your rights
- Ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct anything inaccurate or out of date.
- Ask us to delete your details and remove you from the lists.
- Withdraw your consent to the newsletter and the reminder at any time.
Write to [email protected] and we will respond within a reasonable period. If you are not satisfied with how we handled a privacy matter, you may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).
Cookies
The site keeps one preference cookie to remember your cookie choice. What it stores and how long it lasts is set out in the Cookie Policy.
Age
The game includes a virtual casino district, so this site and its mailing list are intended for people aged 18+ and over.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version is published on this page and applies from the moment it appears here.
