Cookie Policy
This page lists what playindiefirst.com stores in your browser, why it is there and how to change or remove it.
What a cookie is
A cookie is a small text record a website asks your browser to keep. The browser sends it back on later visits, which lets a site recognise a choice you already made. Cookies set by the site you are visiting are called first-party cookies; the one described below is ours.
The cookie we use
- Name
- pif_preferences
- Set by
- playindiefirst.com
- Purpose
- Stores the choice you make in the cookie notice, so the notice is not shown on every page.
- Contents
- One of two values: accepted or declined. It holds nothing else and no details from the form.
- Duration
- 180 days from the moment you choose. After that it expires and you are asked again.
Making and changing your choice
When you first open the site, a notice offers Accept, Decline and Settings. Both Accept and Decline record your decision in the cookie above and close the notice. The Settings panel shows the same record with its purpose and duration.
To change the decision later, use Change cookie settings in the footer of any page. The panel opens again and the new choice replaces the old one.
Deleting it yourself
You can remove the record through your browser at any time. In most browsers it is under Settings, then Privacy and security, then cookies and site data, where you can delete entries for a single site or block them altogether. Deleting it means the notice appears again on your next visit.
Server logs
Separately from cookies, our hosting provider keeps ordinary server logs of requests to the site for operational and security purposes. They are described in the Privacy Policy.
